AI this, AI that.. Here are the top 3 ways I use it for performance marketing.

Unless you’ve been under a rock, AI has been taking the business world by storm, and effectively, folks are using AI to generate marketing results.

However, if you dig a little deeper, you’ll realize that there has yet to be any sort of return from these AI investments.

Goldman Sachs recently wrote an article detailing that investments in AI might be disappointing. Needless to say, it has improved productivity, but the many many billions that have been poured into AI have yet to be realized (or even forecasted sufficiently).

However, on a smaller scale, SMBs have the greatest opportunity for growth when it comes to AI. But, you must get creative.

My company, Adstra, pivoted to an AI model sometime in February. That is because, we focus on speed, staying lean, and pumping out thousands of marketing tests monthly.

All with the help of AI.

Since these changes, we’ve been able to:

  • Generate 5000 leads monthly for us and our partners
  • Generate nearly 1000 qualified sales calls monthly
  • Increase our productivity 10x (in some cases more)
  • Relieve stress and many headaches

Today, I want to uncover the 3 practical ways we’re using AI to generate marketing results and increase productivity.

Research Output Up +200%

Given that we create marketing campaigns that sell for our clients, (and ourselves) we start with our research process.

If you’re curious about what our process looks like, I wrote an article on it here.

Because of the recent influx of demand for our service, I was stuck at a fork in the road. Do I hire more researchers, or synthesize the process for our current staff?

I chose the ladder and I’m happy I did. Here’s what I did.

I went into ChatGPT, and built our proprietary research bot. This bot is trained on our exact research process, and the templates associated, and is programmed to ask questions that can inform the bot.

Therefore, giving us great output.

Firstly, I programmed the bot to start with context-based questions:

From this input, the bot will start with the first section of our research document. Which, is a template that we use for each of our partners.

The knowledge base for the bot is filled with over 50+ research documents that we made in the past.

So, I’m pleased to say, the outputs are damn good.

Next, I created a simple SOP for my research team to follow.

Since this change, our time for completing the research has gone from 20+ hours to ~5 hours, conservatively.

Additionally, this is a much simpler process for our team members to follow. Each team member, regardless of their experience with research, can now have a hand at understanding this.

Therefore, everyone is a lot more congruent with the outcomes and can cross-functionally provide immense value to our clients.

With these time savings, we can do more high-leverage activities. Meaning, we can go over the research by hand, feed GPT even more tailored information, and still get the research out on time.

Additionally, we can regularly update the research over time as we discover new findings.

Throughout our relationship with the client, we will do 50–100 hours of work on the research alone. We place particular importance on the research given that it informs the entire strategy of the campaign. Thus, any success in our marketing efforts can be traced back to what we create here.

So, all-in-all:

  • We’re saving time
  • We’re getting more folks involved
  • We’re sprinting 200% faster than before.

Not too shabby.

Now, this is just one way we use AI to generate marketing results. Let’s move on to the next two ways.


We Completely Replaced Our Setters With GPT

Sounds crazy, right?

We used to have to place 1–2 setters for each of our clients and ourselves for the leads we generated.

Their job was to communicate with the prospect to engage with them. Ultimately, to book a call.

Now, we have installed an SMS GPT appointment setting bot. This bot works 24/7, doesn’t take coffee breaks, works on holidays, and is specifically trained on each business it’s working for.

And the results are mind-blowing.

We’ve boosted our booking rates from 10–15% to over 25% in some cases.

Meaning, if we generate 100 leads, we’d book 10–15 beforehand. Now with the bot, that number is pushing as high as 25%. That’s nearly a 100% increase in booking rates.

So, for every lead that comes into the funnel from ads, we program the bot to have a ‘sell by chat’ conversation.

The same type of conversation we’ve used hundreds of times on LinkedIn, FB DM, and more to book meetings effectively.

The psychology behind this is solid. And, this type of sales conversation system works.

Ideally, you want to offer the meeting at the point of most pain. So, we have the bot get the prospect to identify with the pain. So much so, that they feel inclined to book the meeting.
